I cannot imagine what it must be like for those of you having babies in the midst of a pandemic. My own babies are all big kids now and that’s hard enough. Huge props to those of you who have had babies and made it through their entire first year while dealing with everything else in the world. That makes celebrating baby’s first birthday even more special!

I met this beautiful little lady’s mom years ago before either of us were married or had kids. And I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both Miss Rosie and her sister for all their big birthdays! Miss Rosie is the sweetest, and has the BEST cheeks. It was all I could do not to pinch them!

Do you want to hear possibly the most adorable thing ever? When it came time to plan Rosie’s first birthday, her 4 year old big sister picked the theme and the decorations and planned the whole thing. She picked a Cinderella theme for the party, so we decided to continue that for Rosie’s first birthday pictures. But I kept it as a subtle nod to the princess so that Rosie could still be the star of the show!

We opted to not do an actual cake smash, but we still had a great time playing and laughing together! And she looked adorable in her blue fishy dress with the set-up!

Every birthday her big sister has had, we’ve celebrated by doing an annual picture in mom’s wedding dress. And we continued the tradition this year for Rosie! I photographed Rosie holding a photo of herself as a newborn. Each year we will continue this, so by the time she is all grown up there will be pictures of her from every year of her life in that dress. One day this dress will be used as a piece of their own wedding dress, so these pictures are building quite a memorable keepsake.

Happy First Birthday, Rosie! Fingers crossed that the world is a bit calmer for your 2nd trip around the sun.
