When you are born in Orange County, Florida and your cousin is born in Orange County, California on the same day it’s only appropriate for you to meet in Ohio and have a joint orange themed cake smash session! What a fun story these two cousins have about sharing a birthday, and I was honored to be the one to document their first birthday!

We started by grabbing some pictures of each baby individually. Miss P went first and did a great job working the camera. She was a natural!

Since Mr. O was already walking and wanted to explore everything on set, I brought out my baby trap chair. This little hammock chair makes an appearance at most one year old sessions because not only is it adorable, but babies have a hard time getting out of it. Double win! Getting images of the two of them together was a bit trickier. Seeing them next to each other you can really see the family resemblance though! Don’t you think?

Finally it was time for CAKE!

The babies were happy for a good long while with their cakes. It is really hit or miss if babies actually want to eat their cake during these sessions. I always keep wooden spoons in the studio, because even if baby isn’t thrilled about eating cake they almost always can be convinced to play with a spoon in the cake!

Eventually Mr. O decided snuggles with mom was more preferable than cake, so he exited stage right. That left Miss P to have some solo cake time. She didn’t think twice about continuing to dig in!

Once the cake had lost it’s appeal, we brought out the bathtub to get cleaned up. And what goes with a bathtub better than BUBBLES! Mr. O was more than happy to come back and check it all out!

Overall this was a super fun session! The babies couldn’t have been cuter and I was thrilled with the way the set turned out. And it didn’t hurt that by the end of the session my whole studio smelled like cake and oranges! Definitely an enjoyable day.
