I love working with babies of all ages, but I must confess that a newborn session is my absolute favorite. Those squishy cheeks and that brand new baby smell just make every minute of having a sweet new baby in the studio so special. And baby Max was no exception.

Max came in for his big debut when he was just 15 days new. And he was beyond perfect for his session. Like with most newborn sessions, I started with getting some images of Mr Max and his parents. I like to start with parent images so mom and dad can then sit down and put their feet up and get some much needed time to relax and let someone else do all the work!

And Max’s parents were obviously totally smitten with him. I don’t blame them – I was too! And can we talk about that perfect double baby swirl of hair on top of his head? Swoon!!

Since Max was born so close to Christmas, we obviously needed to work some fun holiday themes into his session. I’ve had this adorable Santa suit for an entire year just hanging on my wall waiting to be used so I was so excited to finally get a chance to use it! And doesn’t Max look adorable in it?!? This little santa suit came from Chicaboo. I don’t think they carry it anymore, but they have lots of other super adorable newborn things and the most beautiful maternity dresses!

Max was the easiest baby to work with. He was so calm and content and looked adorable in every single pose and with every single color I put him on. I love the backdrop his mom picked out though – the little bit of texture and the color complimented his pale skin so perfectly. This backdrop came from my favorite vendor Hello Little Props. After a nice long solid nap, Mr. Max decided to wake up and show me his expressive side. Awake newborn pictures are the best! As long as baby is happy and content, I will continue to photograph them. And Max was a champion eye contact maker! Just look at those big bright eyes.

Max and his parents were an absolute joy to work with. I can’t wait to see him again once he is sitting up for his next session!
