When a baby finishes their first trip around the sun, there are lots of things to celebrate! First smiles, first laughs, first tooth, maybe even their first steps! So what better theme for a cake smash than a space theme to celebrate completing a whole celestial revolution!
I’ve always been a bit of a science nerd. So incorporating some fun science-y things like planets and rocket ships was extra fun for me! And Mr Scott seemed to approve.
Doesn’t he look dapper in that little blue bow tie and those polka dot suspenders? Blue is definitely his color.
I’ve talked about this before on the blog, but not every cake smash session has to include cake. Mr Scott and his family are big Skyline fans so they decided they wanted to celebrate with cheese and chili!
I made sure to choose colors for his set that matched the Skyline smash. I used red, blue, and yellow balloons and pom poms to bring in those iconic Skyline colors.
Mr Scott was a little reluctant to dig in at first. He kept looking at me and his parents with a skeptical face. It’s almost as if he was saying, “Am I really allowed to do this??”
But eventually he decided it was worth the risk to just dig in! Don’t worry – there weren’t any hot dogs in his buns. Just chili and cheese. No choking babies on my watch! (But I am first aid certified and know what to do if I was faced with that situation!)
We had a lot of fun getting messy and Mr Scott did a great job playing with his food. Just look at these messy little toes!!
After Mr Scott was done, my entire studio smelled like Skyline. I am not complaining – I, too, love Skyline!
Overall we had a fantastic first birthday session! These sessions are so much fun to plan and to shoot. And also just a ton of fun to watch. Happy First Birthday, Mr Scott!
